Welcome
to the Bad Wolf Project Web Site.
The
following pages detail the development of my turbocharged
4.0 V6 Mustang. The main page will now be blog like, and eventually I
may make it a fully functional blog so people can comment. I will
censor here however, because I want the page to be productive. If you
are a hater of V6 Mustangs or Mustangs in general, you can go hate my
car on YouTube. If this is your first time here, start reading from the
bottom of the page up.
Jenna. April 2011
I took the car to Excessive motorsports to have an AIS water/meth kit installed. While there I had them do the final revisions on the exhaust. They had an auto trany on hand and could place the crossover pipe from the pasenger side to the drivers side so that it will work with either transmission. New Numbers: 414 HP 478 TQ May 2011 Shakedown was a bit of a bust. The car was only pushing 11 PSI due to an exhaust leak (that I didn't catch until after the 2011 Brawl). My SPEC 3+ is also 3 years old and is no longer up to the task of holding the torque this car puts down. Best ET when the time clock worked was a 12.33 @ 114. Best ET of the day happend to be my second run and the time equipment went haywire. Based on video footage time index the run is an 11.94 @ 113.88 November 2010 Most of the season was a bust because I was working on revisions to the hot side turbo piping so I could lower the car without fear of bottoming out. Track test was good ET wise, but the kit still needs work. New Best; 12.17 @ 114 May 2010 After installing my 90mm MAF and having the car dynotuned again I managed an upset at the 2010 Buckeye Brawl and walked away with the Top Dog Trophy. Best ET was a 12.21 @ 117 with a 1.84 60 foot time. July 24th 2009 The Mogillo Motors rental rain date was rained out. Not really a surprise there this July. It's been rainy here in New York for almost the entire month. I've had to water my garden all of once since the First. So the 3650 is installed. In brief, if you chose not to heed the message above to read from the bottom up. I blew the T5 Trans and replaced it with a Tremec 3650. The car feels much more refined with this transmission. It's quieter, seems more stable under the car, shifts smoother and with an inherently shorter throw... and it shifts without effort. I'm very happen with the change. I also installed Prothane Motor Mounts. This creates quite a bit of vibration throughout the car and is not for the faint of heart. I freakin love it! It's like Harly made a car. I can't wait to run it at the track. I'm going to try to make the Saturday July 25th Test & Tune. The transmission install was made possible by an inspired Collective member due to his need of a superior transmission. Please follow the link below for information on this great grass roots community produce product. July 14th 2009 On July 11th 2009 during a test and tune at Lebanon Valley Dragway, I blew up the stock T5 transmission. I have a 3650 waiting to go in the car and should be back at the track on the 24th for the Mongillo Motors track rental. ![]() A
Quick Overview
For
those who did not read the history of the car. I own a 2006 V6 Mustang.
It is turbocharged and at this point in time is rated at about 384 HP
and 460 TQ to the rear wheels @ 13 PSI. Best quarter mile ET to date is
12.81 @ 108 with 9.6 PSI of boost. That run can be found below. A
compilation of the runs
that day and other historical videos can be found by clicking on the
Multimedia link on the nav bar at the top of the page.
I pretty much took the 2008 season off, doing very little work to the car and making no trips to the track. I was having some issues with the tuning and my air fuel had gone from perfect to cycling from 13-16:1 at idle and cruise. I still have not to this day figured it out, but I got tired of hunting and it does not seem to affect drivability that bad and has no affect on WOT at all. In the spring of 09 I finally got the car over to Jannetty racing for some minor fixes, and a few more modifications to support the power level. The valve springs in the 4.0 are not strong enough to support turbo F/I past 9 PSI. The super charger guys seem to have more head room and can hit 12 PSI without springs on a low mileage car, but they also have about 40% less horse power at the same boost level and on average make 100 less torque @ any boost level compared to a turbo. Mods before the dyno: Comp Cams Nissan 909 valve springs. 60# injectors. Fabricated a CAI to go from the turbo to the stock air box location. Fixed the oil feed and drain lines by installing the proper AN fittings on them Fixed a power steering reservoir leak. Relocated the O2 bung to after the turbo. (Before the turbo can skew the guage readings, but this did not fix my cycling A/F problem) Dyno Tuned the car for WOT A/F dial in. I took care of the drivability tuning and the car is about 98% of stock behavior. It's a pleasure to drive and the instant power is only rivaled by the twin screw. WOT timing is very conservative and this has a cost. I have to shift @ about 5K to put the car into torque peak. I have not had a chance to test that to the end of the track, because as soon as I found the sweet spot, I blew the transmission. More on that later... Dyno
